Reuse of cleaned sewage water.
Water is an increasingly scarce commodity.
It is therefore quite unique, that BioKubes cleaning process is so efficient, that sewage water cleaned with a BioKube system can safely be reused.
Reuse of water from a single house system.
The typical production of wastewater in a one family house is between ½ to 1 m3 pr. day. Water consumption is pr. capita higher in the warm countries typically the household will shower more. This water can easily be reused, often for irrigation og carwash etc.
BioKube single house instalation with storage tank for water reuse under construction.
In the picture you se the 3 components for reuse of water the system consists of and how they are connected.
- 1) The pre settling tank in the top of the picture.
Built on site in concrete, the tank will be divided into 3 chambers for efficient retention of sludge from the BioKube.
From the pre settling tank the water will gravitate into the BioKube.
- 2) BioKube Venus 1850.
The BioKube will treat the water to the required cleaning level.
Excess sludge from the bacteriological process is pumped at regular intervals back to the pre-settling tank.
The cleaned water is led to the white storage tank.
- 3) Storage tank. here the approx. 1 m3 / day cleaned water is stored. Excess water not used is discharged.
Often the outlet from the Venus to the storage tank will be equipped with UV light.
EU project SAFIR regarding reuse of treated wastewater.
The European Commission has under the SAFIR program (Safe and High Quality Food Production using Low Quality Waters and Improved Irrigation Systems and Management) financed a number of projects regarding safe reuse of treated wastewater. See an overview of the publications regarding SAFIR.

The Danish Ministry of Environment has granted BioKube 1 million DKK for a research project which is to further develop BioKubes small systems for cheap and safe reuse of treated wastewater in rural areasof China. The project is run jointly by BioKube and the Danish research institut DHI branch in China.
